DENVER ? The Western Athletic Conference continues the 2007 Play Up Tour this Friday and Saturday in Moscow, Idaho. The fourth stop heads to the Kibbie Dome in Moscow where Fresno State will battle the Vandals on the turf in a Homecoming duel. In the tenth meeting of the schools, Idaho looks to defend their home turf in search of their first conference win of the season, and turn the series around after losing to the Bulldogs last year in Fresno, 34-0.
After a successful Tour in 2006, the WAC has continued its promotion of Play Up, announcing its nine fall stops. The Play Up Tour heightens awareness of the WAC brand as well as reinforces the association between the schools and the WAC. New for this year, the Play Up Tour will also be present at a handful of selected volleyball and soccer games throughout the season.
On Friday, Vandals fans can join the WAC Play Up Tour and support the Vandals women’s soccer team as they take on Utah State at 3:00 p.m. at Guy Wicks Field. Later that evening, head over to Memorial Gym and check out the Seven O’clock Sizzle Basketball Preview, featuring the first look at the 2007 Idaho men’s basketball team. The Seven O’clock Sizzle features a live DJ, free food and drinks, giveaways, and a 3-point and slam dunk contests. Following the Basketball Preview join the Vandal Band outside Memorial Gym as the Serpentine will swing by to lead everyone to the bonfire. Admission is free for both events on Friday.
On Saturday, before the Vandals football team takes on Fresno State, supporters can stop by the WAC Play Up Tour tent outside the Kibbie Dome to pickup a free WAC t-shirt and pom-poms. Fans can enter to win a helmet signed by Idaho head coach Robb Akey. Fans can also register to win a trip to the 2007 New Mexico Bowl or the 2008 WAC Basketball Tournament in Las Cruces, N.M. Saturday’s kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
Fans can also join the Play Up Tour back at Memorial Gym on Saturday night as the Vandal volleyball team hosts nationally ranked Hawai’i at 7:00 p.m.
