DENVER ? The Western Athletic Conference continues the 2007 Play Up Tour this weekend in Honolulu, Hawaii. The sixth stop heads to Aloha Stadium in Honolulu where New Mexico State will battle the Warriors. In the fourth meeting of the schools, Hawai’i looks to defend its home turf in search of its twelfth consecutive WAC win and remain undefeated in the series after beating the Aggies last year in Las Cruces, 49-30.
After a successful Tour in 2006, the WAC has continued its promotion of Play Up, announcing its nine fall stops. The Play Up Tour heightens awareness of the WAC brand as well as reinforces the association between the schools and the WAC. New for this year, the Play Up Tour will also be present at a handful of selected volleyball and soccer games throughout the season.
On Friday, University of Hawai’i fans can join the WAC Play Up Tour and support the No. 11 Rainbow Wahine volleyball team as they take on WAC rival No. 13 New Mexico State at 7:00 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center. Fans can also join the WAC on Sunday night as the Rainbow Wahine volleyball team hosts Louisiana Tech at 5:00 p.m.
On Saturday, before the Warriors football team takes on New Mexico State, supporters can stop by the WAC Play Up Tour tent near gate three inside Aloha Stadium to pick up free WAC pom-poms. Fans can enter to win a helmet signed by Hawai’i head coach June Jones, and can also register to win a trip to the 2007 New Mexico Bowl or the 2008 WAC Basketball Tournament in Las Cruces, N.M. Saturday’s kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
