DENVER ? The Western Athletic Conference continues the 2007 Play Up Tour this weekend in Fresno, Calif., with appearances at Bulldog soccer, volleyball and football events. The seventh stop heads to Bulldog Stadium in Fresno where Utah State will battle the Bulldogs. In the 23rd meeting of the schools, Fresno State looks to defend its home turf in search of its fifth league win of the season and turn the series back in its favor after falling to the Aggies last year in Logan, 13-12.
After a successful Tour in 2006, the WAC has continued its promotion of Play Up, announcing its nine fall stops. The Play Up Tour heightens awareness of the WAC brand as well as reinforces the association between the schools and the WAC. New for this year, the Play Up Tour will also be present at a handful of selected volleyball and soccer games throughout the season.
On Thursday, Fresno State fans can join the WAC Play Up Tour and support the Bulldog soccer team as they host non-conference foe Cal-State Bakersfield at 7:00 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium. Fans can also join the WAC on Friday night as the Bulldog volleyball team hosts No. 11 Hawai’i at the Save Mart Center at 7:00 p.m.
On Saturday, before the Bulldog football team takes on Utah State, supporters can stop by the WAC Play Up Tour tent in Bulldog Boulevard for WAC giveaways. Fans can enter to win a helmet signed by Fresno State head coach Pat Hill and can also register to win a trip to the 2007 New Mexico Bowl or the 2008 WAC Basketball Tournament in Las Cruces, N.M. Saturday’s kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
