Hawai`i was awarded the No. 11 seed after winning the automatic NCAA bid at the Western Athletic Conference Tournament. UH is making its 26th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their 15th in a row. This is the fourth-straight season and fifth in the last seven years where the Rainbow Wahine earned a top 16 seed but will not host the first and second rounds. Hawai`i has advanced to the NCAA Regionals in each of the last nine tournaments.

Tennessee State (20-13) qualified for the NCAA Tournament by winning the Ohio Valley Conference. Host Louisville (22-7) will face Middle Tennessee (33-2) in the other first round match in the subregional at 7:00 p.m. The winners of the two matches will play at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1.

The Aggies faced No. 4 Texas earlier this season, losing 3-0.  The Longhorns were an automatic qualifier from the Big 12 Conference and will take on Texas State, the automatic qualifier out of the Southland Conference, in the second match on Friday at 6:00 p.m. If NMSU defeats the Tigers, they will play the winner of the Texas-Texas State match on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 6:30 p.m.

In the 26-year history of the championship, ten schools have been crowned champion, nine of which are in this year’s bracket, including the defending champion Nebraska.

Additional past winners making the field are Stanford (1992, 94, 96, 97, 2001, 04), University of Hawaii, Manoa (1982, 83, 87), Long Beach State University (1989, 93, 98), University of California, Los Angeles (1984, 90, 91), Nebraska (1995, 2000, and 2006), University of Southern California (1981, 2002, 03), Penn State (1999), Texas (1988) and University of Washington (2005).
