LOGAN, Utah - Along with being named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week, Utah State's Jaycee Carroll also received some national recognition this week as he was named the National Player of the Week by ESPN's Dick Vitale.

Carroll, a 6-2, 175-pound, junior guard, recorded the seventh-best single-game scoring performance in school history as he had a career-high 44 points to go along with 10 rebounds to notch his third double-double of the season and fourth of his career. Against NMSU, Carroll was 12-of-16 from the field, five-of-seven from three-point range, and 15-of-15 from the free throw line, which is a school record. The 44 points are tied for the fourth-most by any player in the nation this year, and the most by a WAC player in eight years. Carroll then added 28 points and eight rebounds against the Vandals, as he was 11-of-19 from the field.

For the week, Carroll averaged 36.0 points and 9.0 rebounds, while shooting 65.7 percent from the field (23-35), 46.7 percent from three-point range (7-15), and 95.0 percent from the free throw line (19-20).

Utah State will return to action on Wed., Feb. 14 when it hosts Hawai'i in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum at 7:05 p.m.
