DENVER ? New Mexico State’s Roman Stoisavljevic has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of February 21. This is the first honor for the sophomore this spring.
Stoisavljevic, a sophomore from Zagreb, Croatia, went 3-0 in singles action at the No. 1 position, winning all of his matches in straight sets. He defeated Idaho’s John Hieb, 6-2, 6-2 on Feb. 17 to improve to 2-0 against WAC opponents. He was 2-1 in doubles play with teammate Stjepan Beg. This season, Stoisavljevic has a 5-1 overall singles record.
Other men’s tennis nominees: Fresno State’s Tejesvi Veerepalli won in straight sets against UNLV’s Jonatha Hooper, 6-1, 6-2 ... Idaho’s Stanislav Glukhov went 2-1 in singles and doubles action last week.
