LAS CRUCES, N.M.  ? The New Mexico State women’s swimming and diving program was recently honored for its work in the classroom as the Aggie were named one of the 2006 College Swim Coaches Association of America Academic All-America Teams.

The Aggies, who ranked second in the nation in team grade-point-average for fall 2006, posted a team GPA of 3.54.  The University of Denver, which had a grade-point-average of 3.58, was ranked first while Eastern Michigan rounded out the top 3 with a GPA of 3.52.

"Being well rounded student-athletes is something we strive for at NMSU and it is an honor to have such fine students with our swim and dive program,” head coach Rick Pratt said.  “This is a direct reflection of the culture of our team and the amount of dedication and ambition our student athletes have.”

“Our academic support staff is first class and our athletes take advantage of every service, bringing their B’s to A’s,” Pratt said.  “We have not recruited only good students, but athletes who strive to be great students."

The Aggies finished the 2006-07 season fifth at the WAC Championships last month.
