DENVER ? Boise State’s Jana Mackova has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of Mar. 5-Mar. 11. This is the first honor for the sophomore this spring.
Mackova, from Nova Dubnica, Slovakia (Gymnasium Su J. Bosca), dominated in her two victories at the No. 3 position. Friday, she lost only point as she dropped Idaho’s Efrat Leopold 6-0 and 6-1. After a one day hiatus Mackova once again only gave up one point as she defeated Pacific’s Helen Schneider 6-1 and 6-0. With the victories, Mackova improved to 9-1 in dual match play and 19-5 overall as Boise State improved to 7-2.
Also nominated: Anastasia Petukhova, freshman, Fresno State; and Caroline Bailly, sophomore, Nevada.
