Hawai`i Ties For 27th At NCAA Championship; Farrow Gains All-America Honors

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The University of Hawai`i tied for 27th place at the 2007 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championship at the Minnesota Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

The Rainbow Wahine ended the meet with 15 points, all from diving, and tied for 27th place with Penn State. Arizona won the women's title accumulating 375 points.

Nicole Mackey, a senior, was the only UH athlete to participate on the final day. She completed her brilliant four-year career with the Rainbow Wahine timing a 1:58.27 in the 200 Back for 26th place in the morning preliminaries. She participated all four years of her career at the NCAAs.

Diver Megan Farrow, who qualified for the platform, did not dive. She had been nursing a led injury the past two weeks.

Farrow Gains All-America Honors At NCAA Championship On 3-Meter

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - University of Hawai`i diver Megan Farrow, who was second on the 3-meter springboard after preliminaries, finished in fourth place earning All-America status Friday at the 2007 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championship at the Minnesota Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

Farrow posted a score of 353.75 in her six-dive format tonight taking fourth place. Stanford's Cassidy Krug won the event with a score of 420.90 followed by Houston's Nastia Podzniakova with 407.10. Jessica Livingston of Texas was third toatling 367.15 then Farrow followed by Lindsay Weigle of Indiana in fifth at 351.45.

"She had a great preformance today than she had in practice the past couple of weeks," Mike Brown, the UH diving coach, said. "The 3-meter is her favorite event and she takes a lot of pride on it. I couldn't be happier for her."

Farrow's fourth place finish was tied the highest UH finish ever on the 3-meter with Qiong Jie Huang.

Emma Friesen also competed on the 3-meter in Friday morning's preliminaries. The freshman did not make the finals finishing in 21st place with a score of 303.45.

Nicole Mackey, the lone swimming representative for the Rainbow Wahine, competed in the 100 backstroke Friday. The senior swam a 54.81 and finished in 26th place.
