DENVER ? Western Athletic Conference Commissioner Karl Benson announced today that New Mexico State men’s basketball coach Reggie Theus has been reprimanded for violating the WAC’s sportsmanship policy.
The violation occurred during the March 8 WAC Tournament game against Boise State when Theus left the bench and went onto the court after a New Mexico State player was intentionally fouled.
“While I understand the emotion that occurs during a game, the WAC has set standards that coaches and student-athletes are expected to follow,” Benson said. “Coach Theus’ actions clearly violated those standards and cannot be tolerated.”
