DENVER ? Hawai`i’s Sascha Heinemann has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 26-Mar. 4. This is the first honor for the sophomore this spring.
Heinemann, from Eschwege, Germany (Rudolf-Koch Schule), won six-straight dual singles matches and has won seven of his last eight matches. Heinemann, ranked No. 75 in the nation, defeated No. 34 Matko Maravic of No. 22 Michigan, 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (5) at the No. 2 position. The sophomore then went on to defeat Jerry Makowski of Texas A&M, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (4) at the No. 1 postition.
