DENVER ? Louisiana Tech’s Albert Fullwood and Latonia Wilson have been named the Western Athletic Conference Men and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of April 16-22.

Fullwood, a sophomore from Bethany, La. (Byrd HS), hit an NCAA regional qualifying mark in the men’s 200 meters with a time of 20.87 seconds for the seventh-fastest time at the John McDonnell Invitational this past weekend in Fayetteville, Ark. The mark places Fullwood first in the WAC and 23rd in the nation so far this season.

Wilson, a senior from Amite, La. (Amite HS), led the way for Louisiana Tech at the John McDonnell Invitational this past weekend with an NCAA regional qualifying time of 22.80 seconds in the 200 meters for the third-best mark in the nation. It was the best finish by a collegiate athlete at the meet. She also ran 11.39 seconds in the women’s 100 meter dash in the preliminaries and followed with a terrific time of 11.13 in the finals that would have been the top time in the nation at the time, but, unfortunately, the wind was just barely over the legal mark. Wilson's time in the 200 is a school record and leads the WAC so far this season.

Other men nominated: Scott Bell, senior, Utah State.

Other women nominated: Novelle Murray, senior, Hawai?i; Anne Gagliardi, senior, New Mexico State and Stacie Lifferth, senior, Utah State.
