WAC CHAMPIONSHIP ? The 2007 Wells Fargo WAC Championship travels to Reno, Nevada and the Hidden Valley Country Club.  This year’s Championship will be held April 30-May 2.

GOLFER OF THE WEEK ? Nevada’s Taylor Coffman was named the Western Athletic Conference men’s Golfer of the Week for April 11-17.

Coffman, a freshman from San Diego, Calif. (St. Augustine HS), finished fifth at the US Intercollegiate, held April 14-15 at the Stanford (Calif.) Golf Course. It marked his third top-10 finish and his second top-five finish of the year. He turned in rounds of 70, 71 and 68 to finish with a three-round total of one-under par, 209.

LOUISIANA TECH WINS HAL SUTTON INVITATIONAL ? Louisiana Tech shot three-under-par on the first playoff hole to defeat UL-Lafayette in a sudden death playoff and capture the 2007 Hal Sutton Intercollegiate played at Stone Bridge Country Club.

The tournament win was the first by the Bulldogs since capturing the 2005 Hal Sutton Intercollegiate. “I’ve been saying all year that we were close,” Coach Jean Hall said. “Even this tournament we didn’t play our best golf but we did enough to win. I’m hoping we carry the momentum into next week’s tournament and then the WAC Championships.”
