DENVER - The WAC will be sending three teams to the 2007 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Regionals. Hawai’i, Idaho and San Jose State will be competing in the West Regional to be played May 10-12 at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club, St. George, Utah, hosted by the Brigham Young University. Idaho received an automatic berth by winning the 2007 WAC Women’s Golf Championship. Hawai’i and San Jose State both received at-large selections. In addition to the three teams competing, two WAC individuals received two of the three individual at-large bids in the West Regional. Fresno State sophomore Jennifer Shipley and New Mexico State senior Lehua Wise received at-large individual bids to compete in the West Regional.
Three regional tournaments will be conducted May 10-12 to determine the NCAA championships field. Regional tournaments are considered preliminary rounds of NCAA championships competition, and all national championships policies will apply. A total of 324 participants have been selected for the regional competition. Of these players, 126 will advance to the championships finals. Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each regional. The championships finals will be held May 22-25 at the LPGA International Legends Course, Daytona Beach, Florida, hosted by the University of Central Florida and the Central Florida Sports Commission.
