WAC Women's Golf Teams Competing in NCAA Regionals

Three WAC women's golf teams and two individuals competed at the 2007 NCAA West Regional at the par-71 Entrada at Snow Canyon in St. George, Utah. Idaho received an automatic berth by winning the 2007 WAC Women’s Golf Championship. San Jose State was the top WAC finisher in ninth place and missed the cut by one stroke with a 57 over, 909. Idaho, the winners of the 2007 WAC Championship, finished in 12th with a three-day total of 66 over, 918. Hawai’i finished in 14th with an 84 over, 936.

Although none of the three WAC teams competing qualified for the NCAA Championships, Idaho’s Kelly Nakashima tied for 15th with a nine over, 222 and qualified for the NCAA Championships as an individual. Nakashima is the first Idaho female to qualify for the NCAA Championships. The championships will be held May 22-25 at the LPGA International Legends Course, Daytona Beach, Florida, hosted by the University of Central Florida and the Central Florida Sports Commission.

In addition to the three WAC teams competing, Fresno State’s Jennifer Shipley and New Mexico State’s Lehua Wise also advanced to the NCAA West Regional. Wise finished in tied for 18th with a 10 over, 223 and Shipley carded a 13 over 226 to tie for 29th.
