Louisiana Tech's Rike Named Second Team All-America

RUSTON, La. ? Louisiana Tech outfielder Brian Rike added to his list of awards this season by being named to the second team of the 2007 Louisville Slugger All-America Team.

Rike hit .346 on the year with 20 home runs, one shy of the school record, and drove in 66 RBIs. He led the Western Athletic Conference in home runs and runs scored. He crossed the plate 74 times, and no other player from the conference scored 60 runs.

Brian Rike had one of the most successful season’s in Louisiana Tech baseball history in 2007. Rike hit 20 home runs, one shy of tying the school record and drove in 66 runs to place fourth all-time. His 74 runs put him second all-time for a single season, and his 153 total bases also are second.

Rike helped lead the Bulldogs to their best finish in the WAC since joining the conference in 2002 with a 14-10 mark in league play and a third place finish. He is the only representative from a WAC school to be named to the Collegiate Baseball Louisville Slugger All-America teams.
