WAC Track and Field Teams and Student-Athletes Earn All-Academic Honors

DENVER - Three WAC women’s track and field teams were honored by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for academic excellence last season. Out of 97 Division I programs making the 2007 all-Academic Track and Field teams, Utah State led the WAC with the fourth-best grade point average in the country. Hawai?i and Idaho also made the list, posting the 63rd and 79th best grade point averages, respectively.

Arizona State’s women claimed the Team of the Year award, having won both the women’s NCAA Division I Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The honors are awarded based on academic and athletic achievements throughout the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. Nominated teams must have an overall grade point average of at least 3.0.

The following is a list of the top ten teams:

  6. University of Portland
  7. Oregon State University
      Weber State University
  9. University of Minnesota
10. Stanford University

Individually, 36 WAC student-athletes made the 2007 USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Track and Field Team. To qualify, individuals must have an overall GPA of 3.25 or higher, and post an NCAA automatic or qualifying mark for the indoor championship or a regional qualifying mark for the outdoor championship in their event. The following includes WAC track and field student-athletes earning all-Academic honors this season.
