WAC CROSS COUNTRY TEAM NOTES
BOISE STATE BRONCOS - It was a clean sweep for the Boise State at the Northwest Nazarene Hampton Inn Suite Classic at West Park in Nampa, Idaho, as the Broncos captured both individual titles and both team titles. The women’s team was led to victory by junior Breanne Sande who finished the 4,000-meter grass course in 14:13.6. Senior Cody Eaton paced the men’s team as he recorded an 18:46.7 on the 6,000-meter course. The Boise State men’s and women’s cross country teams will continue its seasons Friday, Sept. 14, at the Portland WCC Preview in Portland, Ore.
FRESNO STATE - Junior Roxanne Sellick opened the 2007 season with a solid performance as the Fresno State women’s cross country team took sixth out of 12 teams in the UC Irvine Invitational, Saturday in Irvine, Calif. The men’s team was led by freshman Erick Garcia and the Bulldogs finished ninth out of 20 teams. The Bulldogs are back in action next week when they head to the Sacramento State Invitational on Sept. 15.
HAWAI?I RAINBOWS - Hawai’i’s women’s cross country team opened the 2007 season with a third place finish at the Brigham Young-Hawai’i Invitational, Saturday, on the BYUH grass course. Individually, senior Chantelle Wilder defended her title and won for the fifth time in her career, pacing the field on the 5K course at 18:40. UH will next compete at the Chaminade Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 15, also at the BYUH grass course.
IDAHO VANDALS - Idaho’s men’s and women’s cross country teams travel to Seattle, Wash., for the Sundodger Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 15. The Vandals had strong individual performances at the Utah State Open, Aug. 31, with senior Mandy Mcalister placing eighth in the women’s 5k, and Matt Racine crossing the line 12th in the men’s 8k.
LOUISIANA TECH BULLDOGS - Louisiana Tech’s men and women’s cross country teams begin the 2007 season at home, hosting the Mook Four on Saturday, Sept. 15.
NEVADA WOLF PACK - The Wolf Pack women’s cross country team heads to Sacramento, Calif. for the Sacramento State Hornet Jamboree on Saturday, Sept. 15. Sophomore Amanda Moreno leads the Pack, finishing second in the 5k race at the Utah State Open, Aug. 31.
NEW MEXICO STATE AGGIES - Freshman talent Brandi Gutierrez led the way for the New Mexico State women’s cross country squad, posting an impressive fifth place finish, while leading the squad to an overall third place victory, Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Lobo Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The men’s squad posted a seventh place finish with freshman Michael Hart leading the way. The Aggies will be back in action Friday, Sept. 14 in Santa Teresa, N.M. to compete at the Lori Fitzgerald invitational.
SAN JOSE STATE SPARTANS - The Spartans’ next meet is the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. on Sept. 22. San Jose State turned in strong performances at the USF Invitational, Sept. 1, as both the men’s and women’s squads took third places in their respective races.
UTAH STATE AGGIES - Utah State continues action on Saturday, Sept. 15th as they head to Bozeman, Mont., to compete in the Montana State Invitational. Junior Seth Wold won the 8k race at the Utah State Open, Aug. 31, to pace his squad to a second place finish. Senior Stacie Dorius was the Aggies’ women’s top finisher, placing 6th in the 5k.
WAC CHAMPIONSHIP ? The 2007 WAC Cross Country Championship travels to Logan, Utah. This year’s championships will be held Saturday, Oct. 27 at the American West Heritage Center. Host Utah State’s men and women swept the 2006 WAC Championship in Fresno, Calif.

NCAA REGIONALS ? The 2007 Cross Country Regionals will be held at nine sites throughout the country, Saturday, Nov. 10. WAC teams will be represented in three locations. The West Region will be held in Eugene, Ore. (University of Oregon). The Mountain Region will be held in Riverdale, Utah. (Weber State University), while Louisiana Tech will be the lone team in the South Central Regional (University of Arkansas) in Fayetteville, Ark.
