DENVER ? The Western Athletic Conference continues the 2007 Play Up Tour in a battle of two notable in-state rivals. The second stop heads to Mackay Stadium in Reno, Nevada where UNLV will face the Wolf Pack. In the 33rd meeting of the schools, Nevada looks to defend their home turf and extend their winning streak over the Rebels to three consecutive games after winning last year in Las Vegas, 31-3.
After a successful Tour in 2006, the WAC has continued its promotion of Play Up, announcing its nine fall stops. The Play Up Tour heightens awareness of the WAC brand as well as reinforces the association between the schools and the WAC. New for this year, the Play Up Tour will also be present at a handful of selected volleyball and soccer games throughout the season.
Wolf Pack fans can join the WAC at Mackay Stadium this Saturday for the UNLV versus Nevada football game and again on Sunday for the UNLV versus Nevada women’s soccer match. On Saturday, supporters can stop by the WAC Play Up Tour tent at the Northeast entrance inside Mackay Stadium before the game to pickup a free WAC t-shirt or a commemorative Commissioner’s Cup Wolf Pack poster. Fans can enter to win a helmet signed by Nevada head coach Chris Ault. Fans can also register to win a trip to the 2007 New Mexico Bowl or the 2008 WAC Basketball Tournament in Las Cruces, N.M. Saturday’s kickoff is set for 1:05 p.m. During halftime of the football game, WAC commissioner Karl Benson will present the 2006-07 Commissioner’s Cup to Nevada for their overall success in athletics last season.
On Sunday, join the WAC Play Up Tour and support the Wolf Pack women’s soccer team as they take on UNLV at Mackay Stadium. Kickoff on Sunday is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. For tickets to the game, please call (775) 348-PACK.
