RUSTON, La. ? Boise State improved to 6-12 overall and 3-5 in WAC play on
Thursday with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-18, 20-25, 25-17) victory over Louisiana Tech at
the Thomas Assembly Center. The Lady Techsters dropped to 3-13 on the season,
including a 0-7 WAC record.
As
a team, Boise State totaled 53 kills and a .196
percentage while Louisiana Tech tallied 42 kills and a .128 percentage.
Boise State was led by Alisha King
with 14 kills and three service aces. Jeanette Jenkins added 13 kills. Setter Mandy
Klein produced a season-high of 43 assists, while Lauren
Hamm led the team with 17 digs.
Louisiana
Tech was led by Taylor Fritz and KC Clayton with 10 kills apiece, while Fritz
added three service aces and Clayton had five blocks (one solo). Setter Bianca
Bin matched Fritz with three aces while adding 30 assists. Debora Bolohini led
the Lady Techsters’ backcourt with 15 digs on the night.
LOGAN, Utah
? No. 9 Hawai`i swept through Utah State
25-18, 25-18, 25-18 at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum Thursday. UH improves to 14-3 overall and 7-1
in the WAC with the win, while USU falls to 6-13 on the season and 4-4 in
league play.
Hawai¹i finished the match by
hitting .337, while Utah
State hit .079. UH also
had eight more team blocks (11-3), four more digs (33-29) and three more
service aces (5-2) in the match.
Jamie
Houston and Kanani Herring led the way
for UH, both hitting .391 with 12 kills each. Houston added eight digs and three blocks
while Herring had three digs, three blocks and an ace. Dani Mafua
had 37 assists, six digs, two kills and two aces, while Amber Kaufman
and Catherine Fowler led Hawai`i
at the net with four blocks each.
Senior outside hitter Melissa Osterloh had 12 kills to lead
Utah State, while sophomore setter Chelsea Fowles added five kills, five digs
and 21 assists, and hit .429 (5-2-7). Sophomore libero Christine Morrill also
played well for USU as she had a match-high 13 digs.
LAS CRUCES, N.M. ? New Mexico State
(12-7, 7-1) continued its winning ways, earning its eighth win in the last nine
matches and snapping Idaho’s (12-7, 5-3) five-match
win streak at the Pan
American Center,
Thursday. The Aggies won by scores of 25-17, 25-21, 25-12.
NMSU
finished with a .295 hitting percentage and held a 38-24 advantage in digs. The
Vandals finished with season lows in hitting percentage (.072), kills (22) and
digs (24).
Lindsey
Yon led the Aggies with a match-high 12 kills. Krystal Torres had a match-high
17 digs, while the Aggies had a team-total 10 blocks with Amber Simpson contributing
six total blocks.
Anna
McKinney and Sarah Conwell each totaled five kills to pace the Vandals. Sarah
Loney finished with seven digs and Kelsey Taylor had seven blocks.
RENO, Nev.
? Nevada
defeated Fresno State in four sets (23-25, 25-21, 27-25
and 25-11) in a closely played WAC match Thursday. The Pack improves to 9-9
overall and 4-4 in conference play, while Fresno State
is now 5-12 overall and 2-6 in the WAC.
Nevada out-hit the Bulldogs .248 to .098
and out-blocked Fresno
State 9-5.
Lindsay Baldwin posted a match-high 19 kills for the Wolf
Pack, while Kaylie Harrington had a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs.
The Bulldogs were led by Kasey Van Grouw, who posted a
career-high 12 kills and added 10 digs for a double-double. Lauren Berger added
11 kills, just two shy of her career-high.
