No. 8 Hawai?i Sweeps Nevada

HONOLULU, Hawaii ? No. 8 Hawai`i (18-3, 11-1 WAC) swept Nevada (11-11, 6-6) 25-12, 25-23 and 25-16 in front of a crowd of 5,483 at the Stan Sheriff Center Halloween night.

 

Hawai?i hit .359 in the match compared to .117 for the Wolf Pack.  Nevada won the blocking battle 7-4.

 

Jamie Houston led the Rainbow Wahine charge, hitting .607 with 19 kills and eight digs, passing three-time All-American Teee Willliams for second in kills in the UH career record book. Houston now has 1,882 career kills, passing Williams’ mark of 1,873.

 

Aneli Cubi-Otineru hit .429 with 12 kills and 10 digs with Amber Kaufman hitting .400 with five kills, three blocks and two aces. Dani Mafua posted 43 assists and nine digs.

 

Nevada was led by Lindsay Baldwin and Kylie Harrington with eight and seven kills, respectively.  Sonnie Sei dished out 18 assists.
