DENVER ? Boise State’s Blake Brown and San Jose State’s Cristina Corpus have been named the Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Month for November.
Brown, a freshman from Scottsdale, Ariz. (Horizon HS), finished third out of 75 golfers at the Kauai Collegiate Invite in Lihue, Hawai?i, Nov. 3-5. Brown shot a 13-under 203 (68-68-67), turning in his best performance as a Bronco. He finished just two strokes back of the winner and his total was the best three-round score by a Boise State golfer this season.
Corpus, a junior from San Leandro, Calif. (San Leandro HS), tied for second in the Lamkin Cup Cal Poly Invitational, helping the Spartans to the team title, Nov. 3-4. Corpus shot a two-over 146 (71-75) in the two-round tournament in posting her best finish of the season. The second day featured cold and windy conditions, the worst the Spartans had played in all year, but San Jose State’s team round of 303 was the best of the day in the tournament.
Other men nominated: Grant Doverspike, Fresno State; T.J. Kua, Hawai?i; Matthew Harvey, Louisiana Tech; Travis Reid, New Mexico State; and Mark Hubbard, San Jose State.
Other women nominated: Iris Ocariza, Boise State.
