DENVER ? Utah State’s Gary Wilkinson has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 10-16. The honor marks the first career WAC Player of the Week award for Wilkinson.
Wilkinson, a senior from South Jordan, Utah (Salt Lake CC), led Aggies to a season-opening 71-50 win against Montana State-Northern. Wilkinson scored a career-high 24 points and added 12 rebounds in the victory. He played just 27 minutes, was 10-of-11 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free throw line. Overall, it was his eighth career double-double and fifth career 20-point game. Wilkinson also dished out a pair of assists in the game.

Nevada freshman Luke Babbitt led the Wolf Pack with 20 points and 12 rebounds in a win at Montana State ... New Mexico State freshman Troy Gillenwater helped the Aggies to a 79-52 win over UC Riverside with a 17-point, five-rebound performance ... San Jose State junior Chris Oakes recorded a pair of double-doubles in games against South Dakota State and Nebraska, tallying 12 points in each game.
