HONOLULU, Hawai?i ? Second-seeded Hawai`i swept
through No. 7 Boise State 25-15, 25-16, 25-17 in front of of a crowd of 4,115
in the quarterfinals of the WAC Volleyball Tournament at the Stan Sheriff
Center Thursday night.
The
Rainbow Wahine won nearly every statistical category, bettering the Broncos in
hitting percentage (.288-.067), kills (51-20), assists (47-19), service aces
(4-0) and digs (51-28). Boise
State won the blocking
battle, 10-7.
The
Rainbow Wahine had four players with double-digit kills, led by Kanani
Danielson, who hit .476 with 12 kills, seven digs and three blocks. Jamie
Houston added 12 kills, nine digs and three blocks, while Aneli Cubi-Otineru
hit .412 with 10 kills and 11 digs. Amber Kaufman hit .500 with 10 kills, two
aces and two blocks, while Tara Hittle led all players with 17 digs.
Boise State was led by Sadie Maughan and
Jeanette Jenkins with five kills apiece.
