Nevada Gets Road Win at Colorado State, Utah State Downs UC Irvine

Nevada 82, Colorado State 76
 
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) -Armon Johnson scored a career-high 23 points as Nevada defeated Colorado State 82-76 Tuesday night.
 
Joey Shaw also reached a career high with 21 points for Nevada (3-3). Luke Babbitt and Lyndale Burleson had 13 each for Nevada, and the Wolf Pack was 8-for-22 on 3-pointers.
Travis Franklin led Colorado State (3-4) with 18 points. Marcus Walker and Josh Simmons had 17 each for the Rams, losers of two straight.
 
Nevada led 38-31 on Shaw's 12 points in the first half.
 
The Wolf Pack increased its lead to 45-33 on a short jumper and 3-pointer by Shaw early in the second half.
 
Nevada led 76-63 with 4:32 left, but the Rams got within 78-74 on Walker's layup with 1:08 remaining. Shaw sealed the win with a rebound basket.
 

Utah State 74, UC Irvine 62
 
Logan, UT (AP) - Tyler Newbold scored a career-high 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting to lead Utah State past UC Irvine 74-62 Tuesday night.
 
Deremy Geiger had 14 points for the Aggies (5-0). Tai Wesley added 10 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
 
Michael Hunter led the Anteaters (0-6) with 17 points. He was followed by Eric Wise with 15 points and Patrick Rembert with 10.
 
After getting 11 points in the first half, Wise managed only one field goal in the second half as Utah State tightened its defense in the paint.
 
The Aggies led by as many as 15 points with 5:24 to play after consecutive 3-pointers by Newbold and
 
Jared Quayle. USU shot 69 percent from the field in the second half.
 
Hunter scored 12 of the first 17 points of the game for the Anteaters, nine on 3-point shots, as UC Irvine gained a 17-10 lead in the first half. USU caught UCI at 29-28 with 5:06 to play, the first half ending 36-36.
