DENVER ?
The 2008 edition of the WAC Championship returns to Palo Alto Natatorium in San Antonio, Texas, Feb. 20-23, where eight teams will compete for the 2008 championship crown. Nevada will look to defend its 2007 title in hopes of capturing its second WAC championship in a row. The Wolf Pack finished last year's meet with 810.5 points, marking the most points scored by Nevada in a WAC Championship. The Wolf Pack finished the meet with 810.5 points followed by Hawai?i, with 730. Northern Arizona was third with 625, while San Jose State placed fourth with 430.5. New Mexico State finished fifth with 359 followed by Idaho (350), San Diego (245) and Boise State (110).

Boise State enters its second-ever WAC championship and looks to improve on its eighth-place finish in 2007, while Hawai'i hopes to win its second-ever championship after claiming the title in 2006. Both Idaho and New Mexico State will compete in their third WAC championship, vying to improve on their best-ever fifth-place finishes. Northern Arizona and San Diego enter their fourth WAC championship, both looking to become the first affiliate member to win a WAC crown. San Jose State will compete in its 12th WAC championship and are in search of its first-ever top-three placement at this year's event.

Boise State is led by freshman Tara Hahto, who holds school records in six individual events, and divers Jennifer Dorling and Megan Morton, who recorded a pair of Bronco diving records and qualified for the Zone E Diving National Championships. The Rainbow Wahine are led by sophomore Emma Berry, who enters the WAC championship with the top time in three freestyle events. Idaho's charge is led by a round of freshmen who hold the season-best times in eight of 14 events, with Alyson O'Brien and Anna Humphrey leading the way with four and three Vandal top-time, respectively. Nevada is led by swimmers Courtney Eads and Margaret Doolite and divers Candice Minette and Chelsea Sawyer. Eads enters the championship with four top-two times in freestyle events, while Minette broke the WAC three-meter diving record earlier this season.

New Mexico State is led by freshman Kelly Conrad and sophomore Liz Thomson, who both earned WAC Athlete of the Week honors once this season. The Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona are led by swimmers Kim Kopra and Rachael Foe and divers Natalie Hughes, Danielle Borth, Megan Collier and Taryn Harris, all of which have qualified for the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships. The Toreros of San Diego are led by senior Joy Miller and sophomore Kristen Yoon, as Miller ranks fifth overall in the WAC in both the 100 and 200-yard butterfly events and Yoon ranks fifth in the league in the 200-yard backstroke. Senior Brie Marhenke of San Jose State enters the WAC championship as the top seed in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events.
