DENVER ? Hawai?i’s Kate Robinson and Fresno State’s Morgan Melloh have been named the Western Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. This is the first honor this season for Robinson and the third this season for Melloh.
Robinson, a senior from Honolulu, O’ahu (Kamehamehaha School), hit .421 in six games last week. She had team highs with six runs scored, eight hits, three home runs, and six RBI. She also had an incredible .947 slugging percentage. Against Maine, Robinson went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, with a two-run home run. In the second game against Maine, she was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. She went 2-for-3 again when the ?Bows played Texas Tech, with two runs scored, and her second two-run home run of the week. Against against, North Carolina, Robinson got UH’s only two hits of the game, including a solo home run. She started in all six games and had a perfect 1.000 fielding pct.
Melloh, a freshman from Fishers, Ind. (Hamilton Southeastern), improved to 14-3 on the season after a tough 1-0 loss off an unearned run to No. 13 Houston and a 1-0 win over No. 8 Oklahoma at home this week. Melloh pitched her 14th and 15th complete games and has a .055 ERA. The Bulldogs are 23-5 on the season, the best start in 11 years.

Noelle Micka of Nevada hit .481 for the Wolf Pack, scoring eight runs while driving in two ... Ashley Maroda of New Mexico State hit .368 with seven hits and three RBI last week ... Sarah Taylor of San Jose State hit .500 with seven hits, including the game-winning RBI against Sacred Heart ... Kelley Kaneshiro of Utah State hit .625 with five hits as the Aggies went 0-3 last week.
Other pitcher of the week nominees included: Jessica Morton of Hawai?i went 1-0 with a 0.40 ERA in 17.1 innings ... Katie Holverson of Nevada went 2-1 with a save last week, striking out 11 against UC Davis ... Kim Watson of New Mexico State went 1-3 with a 3.09 ERA at the San Diego Classic II.
