Fresno State Bulldogs (8-10, 0-0 WAC)

The Bulldogs have gone 3-4 in their last seven games ... The team won three straight before dropping a 13-8 decision at San Francisco on Tuesday ... The three consecutive wins came at home against Gonzaga, Utah, and Portland ... During the three-win stretch, Fresno State out-scored its opponents 32-4 ... Erik Wetzel has led the Bulldogs at the plate over the last seven games, registering a .458 batting average ... Wetzel has led the team with 11 hits over the past week ... Tanner Scheppers was named the WAC’s Pitcher of the Week after pitching his way to a 10-0 win over Utah ... Scheppers pitched seven innings without allowing a run, while striking out 10 ... Justin Miller and Justin Wilson also picked up a wins last week on the mound.

 

Hawai?i Rainbows (7-13, 0-0 WAC)

The Rainbows have gone 2-4 over there last six games ... The team picked up a pair of wins over UAB last week at home ... The team then dropped three-straight games to 8th-ranked UC Irvine on the road ... UH also dropped a 6-1 decision at home against San Diego on Monday ... Jeff Van Doornum has led the Rainbows at the plate over the last six games, recording a .375 average with six hits, two runs and a pair of doubles ... Joshua Schneider and Matt Daly picked up wins on the mound for Hawai?i last week ... Josh Slaats has recorded 8.1 innings of work over the past week, compiling a 1.08 ERA with five strikeouts.

 

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (13-6, 0-0 WAC)

It was an up-and-down week for Tech...Started off on a bad note, tying a school record with seven errors in an 11-2 loss to UL-Lafayette ... Tech rebounded with a weekend sweep of Tennessee-Martin at home ... Nick Grunenwald went 8-for-13 on the week (.615) with his first two home runs of the season ... Chris Bohannan got his first career hit on Sunday, and it was a big one ? a one-out grand slam to give Tech a 4-0 lead ... Matt Combs hit his first home run of the season on Saturday as one end of back-to-back homers with Grunenwald...Tech won its final non-conference tune-up on Tuesday night against cross-town rival Grambling State ... The team now heads to Nevada to open up conference play this weekend.

 

Nevada Wolf Pack (8-8, 0-0 WAC)

Nevada has gone 3-2 over its last five games ... The Pack’s three wins came against Saint Mary’s, No. 22 Oregon State, and Pacific ... Rod Scurry won his second start in a row allowing no runs and just one hit in seven innings to the two-time College World Series Champions and 22nd ranked Oregon State Beavers as the Pack won 10-1. He pitched five no hits innings before the Beavers got a single to start the sixth inning. Just six OSU hitters reached base while he was on the mound, two on errors, three walked and the lone single. He struck out two and walked three in the game ... Jason Rodriguez has led the Pack at the plate over the last five games, recording a .526 average with 10 hits, nine runs, four home-runs, and 10 RBI.

 

NMSU Aggies (6-9, 0-0 WAC)

The Aggies have gone 2-6 in their last eight games ... The team picked up wins last week over Fresno State and Portland ... Junior Heath Goin picked up his first win of the season against Portland in the Pepsi/Johnny Quik Classic. His first division I win came in stellar fashion as he lasted seven complete innings and didn’t give up a single run. Goin struck out five batters of the 29 he faced and didn’t give up any walks. He now leads the team in innings pitched on the season with 15 ... In six games played in as many days last week, senior Tyler Hardt led the way for NMSU with .400 BA. He hit his first home run of the season against Utah, although the Aggies lost 8-5.

 

Sacramento State Hornets (5-11, 1-3 WAC)

The Hornets won their conference opener over San Jose State on Friday night, scoring two runs in the top of the ninth to break a 1-1 tie ... In the pitchers dual, junior ace Jose Ramirez allowed just one run in 8.2 innings, picking up his second win in as many weeks. Junior Jeff Roth struck out the games final batter, collecting his first save of the season ... The team had its second largest run producing inning of the season in their Tuesday win over Pacific, producing an eight run third inning, leading them to a 14-6 win. Junior Gabe Jacobo hit his first career grand slam in the inning, while senior Wes Oberlin connected on his second three-run homer of the season later in the contest ... Sac. State also knocked off No. 12 Cal on Tuesday night.

 

SJSU Spartans (12-5, 3-1 WAC)

San Jose State closed a five-game mini-homestand against Saint Mary’s College on March 18 ... the Spartans won their series with Sacramento State, three games to one, to begin the WAC season over the weekend, dropping its first home game of 2008 in the Friday night opener, 3-1, before rallying to take the final three meetings ... Jason Martin, a walk-on freshman outfielder, entered the week on a 10-game hit streak, the longest by a Spartan player so far this season, following a walk-off, ninth-inning single to cap a 5-4 triumph over the Hornets in Sunday’s series finale ... John Shaffer, one of two Spartans to start all 16 games along with 2007 Freshman All-American Kyle Bellows, has scored a team-leading 22 runs.
