State infielder Alan
Ahmady and pitcher Justin Miller have been named the Western Athletic
Conference Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for March
24-30.
Ahmady, a sophomore from Fresno, Calif. (Clovis
West HS), hit .583 with 14 hits, eight runs, six doubles, three home runs, and
14 RBI as Fresno State went 5-1 last week. In four
conference games against Nevada,
Ahmady hit .600 in 15 at bats with three home runs and 10 RBI. He also scored
seven runs and had a slugging percentage of 1.467 during the four games against
the Pack.
Miller, a junior from Bakersfield, Calif. (Bakersfield College), went 2-0 last week in 9.2
innings of work, allowing only five hits with a 0.00 ERA. Miller registered a
seven-inning complete game victory with eight strikeouts in an 11-1 win over Nevada. He also pitched the final 2.2 innings in a 13-11 win against Cal Poly. The two wins
improve Miller’s record to 4-0 with a 1.62 ERA this season.
