Fresno State Bulldogs (20-15, 9-3 WAC)
The Bulldogs went 4-1 last week ... The team swept WAC foe Louisiana Tech at home, picking up four conference wins to overtake first place in the league’s standings ... Gavin Hedstrom led the team at the plate, going .500 with nine hits on 18 at bats ... Hedstrom hit a pair of home runs with six RBI ... Alan Ahmady was also impressive at the plate, registering three home runs with a double, 10 RBI, and five runs scored ... Justin Miller picked up the WAC’s hitter of the week award after pitching seven innings with a win, 10 strikeouts and no runs ... This week, Fresno State steps out of non-conference play to take on Cal Poly before traveling to Las Cruces for a four-game set with New Mexico State.
Hawai?i Rainbows (16-21, 8-8 WAC)
The Rainbows went 3-1 at home against New Mexico State last week ... Brandon Haislet led the Rainbows at the plate, going .357 with five hits ... Haislet also scored four runs and knocked in three ... Vinnie Catricala hit .308 with a team-leading four RBI last week ... Ace Jared Alexander hurled eight innings with a 1.12 ERA ... Alexander struck out seven wile only giving up one earned run ... Nicholas Rhodes also picked up a win, going 5.1 innings with five strikeouts ... The Rainbows continue play at home this week as the team hosts Nevada for a four-game set.
Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (15-18, 2-12 WAC)
Louisiana Tech dropped four games at Fresno State last week ... Chris Kersten led the team with a .375 average at the plate ... Kersten went 6-for16 with a double, one run scored, and an RBI ... Albie Goulder hit .333 last week with a home run and two RBI ... Jericho Jones led the team last week with four RBI ... On the mound, Jones pitched six innings with three strikeouts ... Alan Knots led the pitching staff with eight strikeouts last week in five innings of work ... This week, Louisiana Tech remains in California for a four-game set with San Jose State.
Nevada Wolf Pack (21-14, 8-4 WAC)
The Wolf Pack went 4-1 last week with a four-game sweep over Utah Valley at home ... The sweep marked the second four-game series sweep of the season with the first coming against Louisiana Tech ... Nevada got complete games from Rod Scurry and Kyle Howe in the first two games of the Utah Valley series ... Matt Bowman hit an inside the park home run in the final game of the Utah Valley series ... Jason Sadoian led the Pack at the plate with a .643 average, going 9-for-14 with a run scored and three RBI ... Bowman finished the week with two home runs and six RBI ... The Pack travels to Honolulu this week for a four-game series against Hawai?i.
NMSU Aggies (16-19, 5-7 WAC)
New Mexico State went 2-3 last week, picking up a win at Hawai?i Pacific and at Hawai?i ... Senior Joseph Scaperotta hit home runs No. 12 & 13 against Hawai’i this past weekend and continues to lead the Western Athletic Conference in that category ... Junior Caleb Husaker got his first start of season and pitched a season-high seven innings, which included a season-high six strikeouts ... Hunsakere faced 29 batters and gave up only two runs as NMSU defeated Hawaii-Pacific 6-5 in 10 innings ... This week, New Mexico State will host a two-game set against Panhandle State before welcoming Fresno State for four games.
Sacramento State Hornets (15-17, 10-5 WAC)
After splitting the weekend series with San Jose State 2-2, the Hornets will face rival UC Davis on the road on Tuesday before hosting Hawai’i-Hilo for a four-game non-conference set this weekend ... Junior shortstop Blake Crosby hit .400 for the series, raising his batting average from .232 to .258, while connecting on three doubles and leading the team in total bases with nine ... The Hornets pitching staff posted their second lowest team ERA in a series this season against the Spartans (4.50). Junior closer Jeff Roth led the way, making three appearances without allowing a run in 4.2 innings. Roth picked up two saves, allowing just three hits over the weekend ... Roth leads the league in saves with four, all coming in conference play.
SJSU Spartans (17-16, 8-11 WAC)
San Jose State begins a season-long six-game homestand with a four-game WAC set against Louisiana Tech on Friday night ... the Spartans split their series at first-place Sacramento State this past weekend ... the Spartans previously dropped two out of three at Louisiana Tech late last month, with the fourth meeting cancelled due to inclement weather ... Kyle Bellows had his streak of 91 straight starts to begin his college career, snapped on Saturday, April 12 ... Scott Sobczak tossed his second complete game against Sacramento State this season in Sunday’s 2-1 Spartan victory ... freshman Danny Stienstra went a perfect 5-for-5 with a career-high four runs scored in Saturday’s nightcap, including his first collegiate home run.
