NEW YORK?Fresno State guard Tierre Wilson and Louisiana Tech forward JoKeirra Sneed have been invited to the 2008 WNBA Pre-Draft Camp which will be held April 4-5 at the University of Tampa’s Bob Martinez Center. The WNBA draft will be held in Florida on April 9, a day after the Women’s NCAA championship game.
Wilson is the first Fresno State women’s basketball player to receive an invitation to the camp. This year, the Bulldog senior averaged 15.6 points per game and was named the WAC Player of the Year. Fresno State won its first-ever WAC regular season and tournament titles this past season, and went to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. Wilson was also recently named an honorable mention to the AP womens All-America team.
Sneed was named first team all-WAC this season after averaging 15.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per game while shooting 55 percent from the field and 72 percent from the charity stripe. The Belle Glade, Florida native recorded 19 double-doubles on the season and scored in double figures in 30 of 31 games. She also pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds, including 12 offensive boards against No. 1 ranked Tennessee this season.
The invitational-only camp will offer WNBA coaches and general managers an opportunity to evaluate the skills of approximately 40 top global prospects. The players will participate in on-court sessions and will compete against one another in hopes of improving their draft status.
