DENVER ? Boise State’s Troy Merritt has been named the Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week for April 14-20.
Merritt, a senior from Fridley, Minn. (Winona State), won his fourth consecutive tournament after posting an eight-under 208 (70-68-70) at the PING Cougar Classic in Provo, Utah, April 18-19. Merritt entered the final round of play tied for second place, two strokes off the leaders, before shooting a 70 to win the PING Cougar Classic by two strokes. Merritt has now recorded an NCAA-leading six tournament victories this season while leading the nation in scoring average at 69.2.
The other men’s nominations were New Mexico State senior Matt Edwards and Utah State junior Toph Peterson.
