DENVER - The Western Athletic Conference men's and women's tennis championship is April 24-27 at the Aggie Tennis Center in Las Cruces, N.M., on the campus of New Mexico State.

On the women's side, Fresno State is the six-time reigning champion and looks to make it seven-straight this season after topping second-seeded Boise State, 4-0, in 2007. The Bulldogs also return all six of their top singles players, led by juniors Melanie Gloria and Tinesta Rowe, currently ranked No. 3 in the ITA as a doubles tandem, and sophomore Anastasia Petukhova, ranked No. 20 in the ITA in singles.

In women's first-round action the No.-8 seeded San Jose State Spartans will take on the No. 9-seeded Lousiana Tech Lady Techsters, with the winner moving on to meet the No. 1-seeded Fresno State Bulldogs. Host and No. 4-seeded New Mexico State will square off with No. 5-seeded Hawai?i, while No. 3-seeded Nevada will meet No. 6-seeded Idaho. No. 2-seeded Boise State Broncos will take on the No. 7-seeded Utah State Aggies.

On the men's side, Boise State is the three-time defending champion after defeating second-seeded Fresno State, 4-0, at last year's championship in Boise, Idaho. The Broncos return all six of their top singles players from last season, including senior Luke Shields and junior Clancy Shields, who are currently ranked No. 80 and No 61 in the ITA, respectively, and are also ranked No. 18 as a doubles pair.

In men's first-round action, the No. 3-seeded New Mexico State Aggies will take on the No. 6-seeded Nevada Wolf Pack, while the No. 2-seeded Fresno State Bulldogs meet the No. 7-seeded Utah State Aggies, Apr. 25. No. 4 Hawai?i Rainbow Wahine will square off with No. 5 Idaho Vandals. No. 1-seeded Boise State Broncos have a first-round bye and will await the winner of No. 4 Hawai?i vs. No. 5 Idaho.
