Hawai'i won its first-ever WAC championship with a 4-2 win over second-seeded Fresno State. The Rainbow Warriors were led by WAC Freshman of the Year Dennis Lajola, who tallied victories in both doubles and singles against the Bulldogs. Lajola paired with teammate Jeff Fith at No. 2 doubles to take down Denny Fafek and Taylor Leiby, 8-4, and also upset No. 83-ranked Rudolf Siwy at No. 1 singles, 7-6, 6-4.

The Rainbow Warriors earned their first-ever WAC title, with their previous best finish tied for third in both 2006 and 2007. This was the third-straight year that Fresno State fell in the championship match of the WAC Men's Tennis Championship. Hawai'i will now represent the WAC in the NCAA Tournament.

Hawai'i fell behind 1-0 after No. 49 Fresno State earned the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, but notched four singles victories to take home its first WAC championship. In singles action, No. 108-ranked Sascha Heinemann tallied the first win over Fresno State's Mirko Zapletal, 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 2 position, while Lajola took down No. 83-ranked Rudolf Siwy, 7-6, 6-4, at the No. 1 spot. Jeff Fitch earned the Rainbow Warrior's third point with a win over Siddharth Alapati, 6-1, 2-6, 6-2, at the No. 6 position, while Spence Mendoza clinched the match and the WAC title with his final singles win over Martin Nilsson, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 5.
