Four WAC Players Finish In Top-10 at PGA Minority Championship

Port St. Lucie, Fla. - Stephan Stallworth of San Jose State University was one of only two golfers with an even par or better score in the final round at the 22nd annual PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship Men's Independent Division.

Stallworth signed for his second even-par 72 of the tournament on the Wanamaker Course in the PGA (Professional Golf Association) Village. He finished in fourth place with a 223 total. The sophomore from Rancho Murrieta, Calif., opened the 54-hole championship with a 72.

Only Oregon State's Vincent Johnson had a better final round score than Stallworth with a one-under 71. Second-round leader Armando Favela of Loyola of Illinois was the medalist with a 215 total. Amit Odaiyar of Florida Atlantic was second at 217 followed by Johnson at 218.

Stallworth's fourth-place finish was his fifth top-20 placing in 2007-08 and his second in as many tournaments. He tied for sixth at the Western Athletic Conference Championship played at the Cinnaabar Hills Golf Club in San Jose, April 28-30.

His teammate, Miguel Camitoc, a freshman from Hayward, Calif., notched his first top-10 finish at the collegiate level tying for seventh place at 230.  New Mexico State's Chris Nieto and Henry Stetina also tied with Camitoc for seventh.
