DENVER ? Boise State's No. 29-ranked tandem of Luke and Clancy Shields earned a commanding opening round victory over Georgia's No. 17-ranked duo of Jamie Hunt and Nate Schnugg (6-4, 6-2), earning the right to advance to Friday's Round of 16 action in the NCAA Men's Tennis Doubles Championhips at the Michael D. In singles action, No. 83-ranked Clancy Shields fell in second round action to defending national champion and the current No. 1-ranked Somdev Devvarman of Virginia (6-4, 7-5), Shields battled Devvarman, keeping the match on serve until late in the first set. Both players held serve easily in the first eight games before Devvarman broke Shields at love to take a 5-4 lead, eventually taking the first set, 6-4. The second set remained on serve to 5-5, although Devvarman fought off a break point against Shields at 5-5 and converted on the second break point opportunity to take a 6-5 lead. Devvarman served out the match to close out the 6-4, 7-5 win.

The loss ends Shields season with an overall mark of 26-15, while the victory extended Devvarman’s win-streak to 31 straight, 39-1 overall on the year, also setting a new NCAA Tournament record for career wins in the competition with 14.
