TULSA ? The Fresno State Bulldogs made program history at the 2008 NCAA Tennis Doubles Championships, with both doubles tandems advancing to the semifinals of the event at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. The last time any school had two teams in the NCAA Final Four was in 2005 when Stanford notched two spots in the semifinals and then competed against each other for the doubles crown. With the wins, juniors Melanie Gloria and Tinesta Rowe and sophomores Anastasia Petukhova and Renata Kucerkova have all earned First Team All-American status.

The No. 2-ranked pair of Gloria and Rowe earned their spot in the semifinals after topping Duke's No. 7-ranked pair of Amanda Granson and Melissa Mang (6-4, 6-4), Saturday, May 24. The Bulldog duo moved the match along at a quick pace, finishing in less than an hour after dominating the serve and volley game. In yesterday's Round of 16 action, Gloria and Rowe tallied a commanding victory over Arkansas' No. 29-ranked tandem of Ela Kaluder and Aurelija Miseviciute, 6-3, 7-6 (2). Gloria and Rowe will now take on Notre Dame's No. 3-ranked team of Brook Buck and Kelcy Teff, Sunday, May 25, at 2:00 p.m.

The No. 33-ranked duo of Anastasia Petukhova and Renata Kucerkova upset Clemson's No. 4 Ani Mijacika and Carol Salge, 6-2, 6-7 (3), 6-4. After dominating the Tigers in the first set, the Bulldog tandem lost the second set tiebreaker, evening the match at 1-1. In the third set, Petukhova and Kucerkova were facing elimination after falling behind 3-4 early on, but were able to break serve and win three-straight games to clinch the set and the match victory. In yesterday's Round of 16 action, Petukhova and Kucekova tallied a victory over Auburn's No. 14-ranked team of Alex Haney and Melissa Koning, 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-3. Petukhova and Kucerkova will now face UCLA's No. 1-ranked pair of Tracey Lin and Riza Zalameda, Sunday, May 25, at 2:00 p.m.

In singles action, No. 16-ranked Gloria was eliminated from competion after falling in the Round of 16 at the NCAA Tennis Women's Singles Championship, losing to Baylor's No. 25-ranked Zuzana Zemenova (6-2, 2-6, 6-3), on Friday, May 23. The three-time WAC Player of the Year also fell to Zemenova in Round of 16 action in 2007. Gloria ends her singles season at 29-10, while Zemenova advances to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the third time in her career, improving her season record to 37-5.
