TULSA ? Boise State's No. 29-ranked tandem of Luke and Clancy Shields lost a hard-fought three-set match during the Round of 16 of the NCAA Men's Tennis Doubles Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, in Tulsa, Okla. The tandem fell to Southern California's No. 2-ranked duo of Robert Farah and Kaes Van't Hof (7-5, 4-6, 6-3). The Shields brothers end their season at 19-7, while USC's Farah and Van't Hof improve to 36-3, riding their 23-match winning streak, and will now face the Tulsa's No. 27-ranked pair of Ross Cunningham and Andy Connelly in quarterfinal action.

After dropping the first set 7-5, the Bronco duo battled back to an even draw with a 6-4 victory in the second set. Unfortunately, the decisive third set went the way of the Trojans, who clinched the match with a 6-3 victory in the final set.

The loss ends the season for the Shields brothers and also marks the end to Luke Shields’ outstanding four-year run at Boise State where his honors were numerous. Shields was named the 2007 WAC Player of the Year and was also a three-time NCAA All-American. For Clancy, he will return at the Broncos No. 1 positon next year and the leader of a strong returning group.
