WAC Outdoor Track & Field Athletes Head to NCAA Regionals

DENVER ? This weekend, those individuals who have earned NCAA Regional qualifying times/marks will compete in their respective Regional meets, May 30-31. The top-five finishers from each event automatically advance to the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, June 11-14, and an additional five to eight athletes per event could be selected on an at-large basis on Monday, June 2.

All eight of the WAC schools have student athletes participating in Regional competition. Members of Boise State, Fresno State, Hawai?i, Idaho, Nevada and Utah State will compete in the West Regional in Northridge, Calif., hosted by Cal-State Northridge. Louisiana Tech athletes will compete in the Midwest Regional in Fayetteville, Ark., hosted by the University of Arkansas. Click here for the Midwest Regional schedule of events.

New Mexico State athletes will take part in the Mideast Regional in Lincoln, Neb., hosted by the University of Nebraska. Click here for the Mideast Regional schedule of events.

A total of 92 WAC student athletes will be competing in the NCAA Regional meets. The Idaho Vandals have 22 athletes (13 men, eight women) participating this week, the most of any WAC school. Fresno State will compete with 17 (seven women, 10 men), while Louisiana Tech has 14 (eight men, six women) in Regional competition. The Aggies of Utah State have 13 (eight men, five women) participating, while Boise State has 11 (eight men, three women) competing this weekend. Hawai?i will compete with nine women, Nevada with four participants and New Mexico State with three competitors.
