Fresno State 6, San Diego 0
For the second straight day, the second-seeded University of San Diego Toreros were involved in a complete game shutout; the results, however, were the complete opposite of Friday as Fresno State Clayton Allison threw a five-hitter and led the Bulldogs into the championship round of the Long Beach Regional with a 6-0 win Saturday night in Long Beach.

Allison (3-5) was perfect through five innings before Torero second baseman Kevin Hansen hit a sharp leadoff grounder in the sixth that third baseman Tommy Mendonca knocked down but was unable to make a play. In all, Allison allowed just five hits, struck out three, walked just one and never allowed a Torero past second base on the evening in going the distance.

Mendonca was also a huge story himself. Friday night he left the game with an apparent hand injury only to return Saturday to knock in four runs, three on a bases-clearing double in the Bulldogs' (39-27) four-run fourth inning.

Previously undefeated Josh Romanski went the distance for the Toreros (42-16) giving up six hits while striking out six and walking one in eight innings to fall to 9-1 on the year.

The Bulldogs added two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth as second baseman Eric Wetzel led off with a double to left and then scored on an RBI single by left fielder Steve Susdorf. Mendonca's second hit, a single to left, then scratched in Susdorf to give Fresno State it's 6-0 lead.

San Diego drops to the loser's bracket and will face top seed Long Beach State Sunday afternoon in an elimination game at 1 pm at Blair Field. The winner will then face Fresno State at 5 pm.

Fresno State 7, Long Beach State 3

The Bulldogs will face No. 2 San Diego on Saturday night at 6 p.m. PT. San Diego defeated No. 3 California 5-0 on Friday.
