LAS CRUCES, N.M. ? No. 7 Hawai`i (11-2, 4-0 WAC) swept through New Mexico State (8-7, 3-1) 26-24, 25-20 and 25-23 Saturday, seizing control of the lead in the WAC.

 

Jamie Houston led the way, posting 16 kills to lead all players. Aneli Cubi-Otineru had a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs while Nickie Thomas and Amber Kaufman both hit .438 with eight kills. Dani Mafua had 41 assists and nine digs, while Tara Hittle recorded a career-high four aces with six digs.

 

Lindsey Yon had a team-high 11 kills for the Aggies while senior Amber Simpson hit .412 on the afternoon with nine kills and three block assists.

 

 

BOISE, Idaho ? Haley Larsen made her latest stamp on the record books by setting the career kills mark in Idaho’s 3-2 victory over Boise State Saturday night.

 

Larsen blasted the previous record with 31 kills in Idaho’s (8-6, 1-2) 25-13, 23-25, 22-25, 25-14, 15-9 victory over the Broncos (4-9, 1-2). Her career total now stands at 1,538, besting the previous record of 1,524 by Kelly Gibbons (1981-84).

 

Larsen finished with 31 kills and a team-best .371 hitting percentage. Her 31 kills tie for seventh on Idaho’s match records lists and mark the third time in her career she has eclipsed the 30-kill mark. She also added 14 digs and three service aces.

 

Sarah Loney also posted a double-double with 12 kills and 15 digs while Debbie Pederson tallied eight kills and 10 blocks assists, which ties for 10th on Idaho’s all-time match records list. Kelsey James finished with 56 assists and a career high eight blocks and Kelsey Yonker totaled 21 digs.

 

For the match, the Vandals hit .213 and held the Broncos to a hitting percentage of just .084. Idaho hit .345, .351 and .235 in winning sets compared to just .139 and .067 in sets two and three. Idaho also tallied 33 blocks assists to rank fourth on the all-time match records list.

 

 

FRESNO, Calif. ? San Jose State swept past Fresno State (25-19, 25-15, 25-2 in a Western Athletic Conference match.

 

Kelly Crow led San Jose State with her third double-double of the season as she recorded 11 kills and 10 digs. Colleen Burke hit .500 for the match as she had 11 kills on 16 attempts and only three hitting errors. Defensively, Clement had a team-best 12 digs, while Kristal Tsukano added 10 digs.

 

Brianna Clarke led the Bulldogs with nine kills, while Meghan Moss tallied 11 digs.

 

 

LOGAN, Utah - Christine Morrill recorded a career-high 27 digs to lead Utah State (4-10, 2-1) to a come-from-behind five set win (25-11, 17-25, 24-26, 25-22, 18-16) over Nevada (5-7, 1-3) Saturday night.

 

Jessalyn Payne added a career-high 13 kills and hit .333 (13-4-27) in the match for Utah State, while sophomore middle blocker Katie Astle posted a career-high 11 kills and hit .562 (11-2-16). Fowles, who added 12 digs and 52 assists, hit a career-high .625 (5-0-8) overall.

 

Lindsay Baldwin had 13 kills to pace Nevada, while Kylie Harrington had 10 kills but hit a negative .028 (10-11-36).
