BOISE, Idaho ? The freshmen duo of Heather Pilcher and Courtney VanBrocklin combined for 31 points, 22 in the second half, as Boise State rallied from 11 down to defeat Hawai?i 70-61 in Taco Bell Arena Monday night.
The nine-point victory extended the Broncos' conference home win streak to 12-consecutive games as they improve to 9-8 overall and 2-1 in Western Athletic Conference action. It was the third road game in five days for Hawai?i, which slipped to 3-13 overall and 0-3 in league play.
Boise State shot 40 percent (25-of-62) from the floor, 38 percent (6-of-16) from beyond the arc and 64 percent (14-of-22) from the free throw line. Hawaii shot 40 percent (20-of-50) from the field, 35 percent (6-of-17) from three-point range and 88 percent (15-of-17) from the charity stripe.
Pilcher finished with 16 points to go with three boards, two assists and four steals, while VanBrocklin added 15 points along with six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Hawaii had four players record double-digit points, led by Keisha Kanekoa with 18 points. Dita Liepkalne and Megan Tinnin each added 11 points, while Tara Hittle finished with a double-double of 10 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
