LAS CRUCES, N.M. ? New Mexico State had five players score in double figures as the Aggies downed Fresno State, 80-74, Sunday afternoon in the Pan American Center.

NM State now stands 6-12 overall and 2-2 in the WAC, while Fresno State falls to 12-6 on the season and 3-2 in WAC play.

The Aggies shot 47 percent from the floor, compared to the 43 percent of the Bulldogs. However, Fresno State shot just 55 percent from the free throw line, while NMSU connected on 86 percent from the charity stripe. Both teams had 38 rebounds, but the Aggies dished out a season-best 22 assists.

Madison Spence nearly recorded a triple-double, finishing with a game-high 20 points, a career-high-tying nine assists and eight rebounds. Kaitlyn Soto tied her career-high with 13 points, including a perfect 3-for-3 effort from three-point range. Soto also tied her personal best rebounding performance of seven. Danisha Corbett finished with 13 points, Tabytha Wampler added 12 points Tyshae Walton scored 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting.

Marnique Arnold led the Bulldogs with 17 points, while Jaleesa Ross had 15, Ashley Walker 14 and LaShay Fears 10. Walker's 14 points was a new career high.


RUSTON, La. - Shanavia Dowdell scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead four Louisiana Tech players in double figures as the Lady Techsters downed San Jose State 70-53 Sunday afternoon at the Thomas Assembly Center.

Tech shot 46 percent (26-of-57) from the field, while San Jose State connected on just 31 percent (18-of-59). Louisiana Tech also edged the Spartans on the boards, 41-37.

Whitney Jones, Adrienne Johnson and Brietta Thomas each added 12 points as Tech (9-9, 2-2 WAC) remained perfect all-time against the Spartans (2-15, 1-3).

Chasity Shavers and Kelly Blair led SJSU with 17 points apiece.
