New Mexico State 3, Louisiana Tech 0
New Mexico State volleyball team swept Louisiana Tech (25-18, 25-16, 25-15) in the Pan American Center Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Aggies improve to 10-5 overall and 2-4 in WAC play. Louisiana Tech falls to 12-10 on the season and 2-4 in the WAC.
As a team, the Aggies out hit LA Tech .296-.082.
Kayliegh Giddens posted a match-high 13 kills, while Kelsey Brennan added 10 kills as she hit .471 on the match. Kelsi Phillips had a match-high 15 digs as the Aggies posted four total team blocks.
The Techsters were led by Jennifer Goodwin with 11 digs and Nataliya Panova with six kills.
Fresno State 3, Idaho 2
For just the second time ever and the first since 1987, Fresno State defeated Idaho as the `Dogs rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take the match 3-2 (15-25, 23-25, 28-26, 25-22, 15-11) in WAC play Saturday night at the Save Mart Center. With the win, Fresno State improves to 10-7 overall and 3-2 in conference play, while the Vandals fall to 7-10, 3-2.
The 10 wins are the most by a Bulldog team since 2004 and at 3-2 in the WAC, the `Dogs are off to their best conference start since 2003.
Baylee Platt led Fresno State with 17 kills. Lauren Berger and Allanah Munson each contributed double-doubles as Berger had 14 kills and a career-high 12 digs, while Munson tallied 27 assists and 10 digs. Kelly Leonardo added 11 kills and tied her career high with 25 digs.
Idaho was led by Sarah Conwell with 21 kills and 26 digs.
Nevada 3, Utah State 2
Nevada snapped a three-match WAC losing skid when it defeated Utah State in five sets (25-22, 23-25, 18-25, 25-22, 15-7) at the Virginia Street Gym Saturday night. The Wolf Pack improve to 6-12 overall and 3-2 in the WAC with the win. The Aggies fall to 10-8 on the year and 2-4 in WAC play.
Of Nevada’s six wins on the season, five have come in five set matches as the team improved to 5-0 in five set outings.
Erin Garvey and Kylie Harrington led four Pack players in double figures in kills with 12 each. Elissa Ji and Lindsay Baldwin totaled 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Sonnie Sei and Tatiana Santiago each dished out 23 assists on the night. Sei added 10 digs to post her first double-double of the season. Nicole Link finished with a match-high 29 digs.
Liz McArthur and Emily Kortsen topped the Aggies with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Kortsen recorded a double-double as she had 15 digs in the match. Chelsea Fowles finished with a match-high 37 assists, while Christine Morrill totaled 19 digs.
Idaho State 3, Boise State 0
Boise State fell to Idaho State 3-0 (25-21, 26-24, 25-23) Saturday night. The Broncos drop to 0-16, while the Bengals improve to 8-9.
Alisha Young and Sadie Maughan each totaled 11 kills. King produced one of her better matches of the season, adding a match-high of four blocks as well as two service aces. Jeanene Rose also had a standout match, putting up 24 digs to lead the match while fellow senior Kati Lewis had a season-high of 14 digs. Breann Nesselhuf added 32 assists to the team's efforts.
Idaho State was lead by Haylee Thompson who produced 14 kills and a match-leading .462 hitting percentage. Emily Waldron added 11 kills as well as a match-high of two service aces.
Britta Bartschi-Rhodehouse led the defensive efforts at the net with two blocks while Paige Palmer racked up 22 digs to lead the team. Setter Karissa Leagaux produced 40 set assists on the night.
