WAC Volleyball Player of the Week Announced

DENVER – Idaho senior outside hitter Sarah Conwell has been named Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 5-11. This is the second WAC Player of the Week honor of the season for Conwell and the second of her career.

The Kent, Wash. (Kentwood HS), native tallied 39 kills, 37 digs and six blocks over two matches as Idaho went 1-1 last week. Conwell averaged league-bests of 4.88 kills and 5.31 points per set and tallied her sixth and seventh career double-doubles to move her current streak to four. She opened the week with 18 kills, 11 digs and five blocks in a sweep of Louisiana Tech. She followed that up with 21 kills and a career-high 26 digs in a five-set loss at Fresno State. Her averages on the week were well above her season averages of 3.53 kills and 1.98 digs per set entering the week.

Other nominees included: Brianna Clarke of Fresno State averaged 1.67 kills and 1.67 blocks in a pair of wins … Hawai’i’s Kanani Danielson averaged 3.83 kills, 1.67 digs and 1.17 blocks per set as the Rainbow Wahine won their 10th- and 11th–straight matches … Nataliya Panova of Louisiana Tech averaged 2.33 kills and 2.17 digs … Nicole Link of Nevada averaged 5.00 digs per set, good for second in the WAC … New Mexico State’s Kayleigh Giddens averaged 3.83 kills, 1.50 digs and 0.50 blocks in a pair of wins.
