Hawai’i began its first road trip of the season with a 25-11, 25-18, 25-12 victory over Louisiana Tech Thursday night at the Thomas Assembly Center in Ruston, La.
With the win, the Rainbow Wahine improve to 12-2 on the season and 3-0 in WAC play. UH has now won eight straight matches by a 3-0 score. Louisiana Tech falls to 11-8 overall and 1-2 in the WAC.
For the match, UH hit .487, including a season-high .667 in the third set.
Aneli Cubi-Otineru had 10 kills on .368 hitting and added six digs and two aces. Amber Kaufman had nine kills on 12 swings, hitting .750 for the match. Kanani Danielson had seven kills, five digs and a career-high three aces and Stephanie Ferrell had six kills.
KC Clayton led Louisiana Team in kills with five while Nataliya Panova and Lori Hunsucker recorded four digs apiece.
New Mexico State 3, Nevada 0
Krista Altermatt and Jennah DeVries picked up double-doubles as the Aggies swept Nevada (25-22, 25-21, 25-21) at the Pan American Center Thursday.
Altermatt posted 10 kills and 12 digs, while DeVries tallied 39 assists and 10 digs to help the Aggies move to 8-4 overall and 3-0 in WAC play. Nevada falls to 5-10 overall and 1-1 in the WAC.
Kayleigh Giddens posted a match-high 15 kills, while Erin Birmingham had a match-best and season-high .643 hitting percentage as she tallied nine kills on 14 attempts without an error.
Lindsay Baldwin led the Wolf Pack with eight kills, followed by Kylie Harrington and Elissa Ji with seven each.
Utah State 3, San Jose State 0
Katie Astle recorded six kills and hit .667 to help Utah State defeat San Jose State 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-14) Thursday night. USU improves to 9-6 overall and 1-2 in the WAC with the win, while SJSU falls to 0-13 on the season and 0-3 in league play with the loss.
Utah State finished the match by hitting .156, while San Jose State hit .140. USU also had six more service aces (6-0) and eight fewer service errors (10-2) in the match, while the Spartans had nine more digs (55-46).
Liz McArthur had a team-high nine kills for Utah State, while Emily Kortsen finished the match with seven kills and 10 digs. Christine Morrill had a team-high 13 digs for USU to go along with two service aces.
Taylor Japhet had 14 kills and seven digs to lead San Jose State.
Fresno State 3, Boise State 2
The Bulldogs rallied from down two sets to defeat the Broncos (16-25, 19-25, 25-17, 25-21, 15-11) in Boise Thursday night. With the win, Fresno State improves to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in WAC play. Boise State falls to 1-12 overall and 1-2 in the WAC.
The Broncos out-hit the Bulldogs .199 to .138, but committed 11 services aces to Fresno State's five.
Lauren Berger paced the Bulldogs with 13 kills, while Taylor Horton added 10. Kelly Mason posted a match-high 20 digs.
Boise State was led by Sadie Maughan with 14 kills and Amanda Remy and Alisha King with 13 apiece. Remy also posted 19 digs for a double-double.
