All Four Home Teams Earn WAC Wins Thursday

New Mexico State 3, Fresno State 0
New Mexico State swept Fresno State (25-22, 25-20, 25-21) Thursday in the Pan American Center in a live national broadcast on ESPNU. With the win, the Aggies improve to 12-7 overall and 7-2 in WAC play. Fresno State falls to 11-9 on the season and 4-4 in the WAC.

Kayleigh Giddens led the way with a match-high 17 kills, while hitting .389 on the evening. Whitney Woods added 10 kills. Kelsi Phillips tallied a match-high 13 digs.

The Bulldogs were paced by Brianna Clarke with nine kills and six blocks.


Idaho 3, Nevada 0
Idaho kicked off a stretch of four-consecutive home matches with a sweep (25-21, 25-16, 25-17) of Nevada in WAC action Thursday. The Vandals (10-11, 6-3) never trailed in the match and have now won their last three matches. Nevada fell to 7-14 overall and 3-5 in WAC play.

Idaho's defense, ranked No. 1 in the nation for blocks, tallied a 13-1 blocking advantage to go with a 58-47 margin for digs. The Vandals also held the Wolf Pack to a .015 hitting percentage. The offense chipped in 33 kills and a .159 hitting percentage while adding six service aces.

Sarah Conwell paced the Vandals with her 10th double-double of the season as she tallied 13 kills and 11 digs. Kelsey Taylor added seven kills and Anna McKinney chipped in five kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Debbie Pederson finished with seven blocks while McKinney added five.

Nevada was led by Kylie Harrington with 15 kills and eight digs.


Boise State 3, Utah State 0
Extending its home win-streak to two matches, Boise State earned its first sweep of the season (25-19, 25-22, 25-22) over Utah State Thursday night. The Broncos improved to 3-18 overall and 3-6 in WAC play. The Aggies fall to 12-10 on the season and 3-6 in the WAC.

The Broncos out-hit the Aggies 44 kills to 38, while producing a .189 hitting percentage to USU's .148. Boise State also picked up 69 digs, to Utah State's 63 digs while also outserving the Aggies 6-3 in service aces. The Aggies held the upper hand in only one category, leading 5-3 in blocks.

Boise State was led by Alisha Young with 12 kills and a match-leading .324 hitting percentage. Libero Jeanene Rose tied her career-best of 26 digs, while Sadie Maughan added 10 kills and Amanda Remy had 12 digs.

Utah State's Chelsea Fowles led the Aggies with 28 assists and 12 digs.


Louisiana Tech 3, San Jose State 1
Nataliya Panova recorded 14 kills and 14 digs to lead Tech to a 3-1 victory over San Jose State Thursday in the Thomas Assembly Center. Set scores were 25-17, 20-25, 25-14, 25-21.

The three WAC wins this year for the Techsters is the most since the team won four in 2003. The three wins also ties the team's WAC win total over the past four years combined.

In addition to Panova's double-double, Tech was led by KC Clayton with 15 kills and Lori Hunsucker with 20 digs.

San Jose State was paced by Taylor Japhet with 12 kills and 14 digs.
