NMSU, BSU, LA Tech and Idaho Win Saturday

New Mexico State 3, San Jose State 1
Jennah DeVries and Kayleigh Giddens set career highs as New Mexico State defeated San Jose State 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-23) at the Pan American Center Saturday.

DeVries posted a career-high five kills and a career-high .714 hitting percentage and added a match-high 46 assists. Giddens tallied a career-high 24 kills while hitting .435. She added 13 digs for her fourth double-double of the season.

San Jose State was led by Taylor Japhet with 14 kills.


Boise State 3, Nevada 0

The Broncos earned their second straight sweep on Saturday, defeating Nevada 25-13, 25-23, 26-24 in Bronco Gym. With the win, Boise State improves to 4-18 overall and 4-6 in WAC play, while the Wolf Pack fall to 7-15 overall and 3-6 in the WAC.

The Broncos were stronger than the Wolf Pack in every statistical category with a 16-11 difference in blocks and a 47-37 difference in kills.

Alisha Young posted a match-high 17 kills on .536 hitting, a new career best. Sadie Maughan hit .318 on the day, racking up 11 kills. Breann Nesselhuf dished out 41 assists to go with five blocks.

For the Wolf Pack, Kylie Harrington led the team with 10 kills, while Lindsay Baldwin and Janelle Batista added a team highs of three blocks each.


Louisiana Tech 3, Fresno State 0

The Techsters tied the program record for WAC wins in a season with four after a 3-0 sweep ( 25-16, 25-16 and 25-20) of Fresno State Saturday night at the Thomas Assembly Center. WIth the win, Louisiana Tech improves to 14-12 overall and 4-6 in WAC play, while the Bulldogs fall to 11-10 on the season and 4-5 in the WAC.

The four WAC wins ties the program's combined WAC win total over the past five years.

KC Clayton led all Techsters with nine kills on .400 hitting, while Nataliya Panova led Tech in digs with 12.

Fresno State was led by Brianna Clarke with 10 kills on .389 hitting.


Idaho 3, Utah State 0

Idaho defeated Utah State in straights sets (26-24, 25-19, 25-19) Saturday for its third-consecutive 3-0 victory at home. With the win, the Vandals improve to 11-11 overall and 7-3 in the WAC, while the Aggies fall to 12-11 on the year and 3-7 in conference play.

As a team, the Vandals totaled 45 kills and hit .224 while holding the Aggies to 34 kills and a .085 hitting percentage. Idaho finished with 59 digs after totaling 30 in the first set, while Utah State finished with 41. The Vandals also held an 8.5-6 advantage for blocks.

Sarah Conwell led Idaho with 15 kills and 13 digs for her 10th double-double of the season. Alicia Milo totaled nine kills on .389 hitting and Debbie Pederson notched seven kills and added six blocks.

Shantell Durrant paced the Aggies with eight kills.
