Hawai'i Wins Ninth Straight Match Saturday

Hawai'i 3, New Mexico State 1
No. 4 Hawai’i won its ninth straight match, beating New Mexico State 25-21, 15-25, 25-22, 25-11 Saturday night in Las Cruces. The Rainbow Wahine swept its first road trip of the season and improve to 13-2 on the season and 4-0 in WAC play. The Aggies fall to 8-5 overall and 3-1 in the WAC.
 
UH was led by Kanani Danielson, who had a match-high 21 kills and hit .390 for the match. Danielson also added seven digs and two blocks. Stephanie Ferrell had 11 kills, while Aneli Cubi-Otineru had eight kills, 12 digs and three blocks and Dani Mafua had 45 assists, three kills, four digs and three blocks.

Kayleigh Giddens paced paced NM State with 18 kills and nine digs.


Idaho 3, Fresno State 2
Sarah Conwell tallied 24 kills, 18 digs and seven blocks to help Idaho to a come-from-behind five-set victory over Fresno State in Idaho's home opener at Memorial Gym Saturday. The Vandals used set scores of 22-25, 25-16, 22-25, 25-16, and 15-10 to improve to 6-9 overall and 2-1 in WAC play. The Bulldogs dropped to 8-7 and 1-2 with the loss.

As a team, Idaho held the advantage in nearly every statistical category. The Vandals hit .184 compared to .073 for Fresno State, finished with 82 digs to Fresno State's 80, and totaled 15 blocks compared to 10 for the Bulldogs.

Anna McKinney totaled eight kills on .400 hitting to go along with seven blocks. Katie Tribley earned a double-double with 43 assists and 10 digs while also adding a career-high six blocks. Debbie Pederson served up three aces and tallied seven blocks and Meredith Rice finished with a career-high 27 digs.

Lauren Berger and Brianna Clarke tallied 13 kills apiece for the Bulldogs.

Idaho excited a crowd of 1,701 in its first home game of the season, the fourth-highest attendance total in Vandal history.


Louisiana Tech 3, Nevada 0
The Lady Techsters swept Nevada 25-20, 25-16, 25-21 in WAC action Saturday afternoon in Ruston. With the win Louisiana Tech improves to 12-8 overall and 2-2 in WAC play. Nevada falls to 5-11 overall and 1-2 in the WAC.

The Techsters out-hit Nevada .223 to .076, and out-blocked the Wolf Pack 9-2.

Nataliya Panova led the Techters with 12 kills and seven digs. Lori Hunsucker had a team-high 19 digs.

Kylie Harrington led the Pack with 11 kills and 13 digs.


Utah State 3, Boise State 2

The Aggies rallied from down two sets to defeat Boise State in WAC play Saturday. Set scores were 22-25, 24-26, 25-21, 25-20 and 15-13. With the win, Utah State improves to 1-6 overall and 2-2 in WAC, while Boise State falls to 1-13 and 1-3.

The Aggies edged the Broncos in hitting, .273 to .253 and out-blocked Boise State 13-9.

Utah State was led by Liz McArthur with 23 kills. Emily Kortsen posted a double-double of 14 kills and 14 digs, while Christine Morrill had 22 digs.

Sadie Maughan and Alisha King posted 22 and 20 kills, respectively, to pace Boise State.
