DENVER—Hawai‘i's Britta Bourne and Nevada's Marie Cove have been named Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for the week of Oct. 26-Nov. 1.

Bourne, a senior from Honolulu, O‘ahu (Montana), scored all three goals in Hawai‘i’s win over Idaho. She becomes just the fifth player in UH school history to record a hat trick. Bourne is the only player in the WAC this season to record three goals in a league match. The senior ends the season as the team leader with 10 goals and 23 points.

Cove, a junior from Garden Grove, Calif. (Pacifica HS), started and played in two wins this past week. Cove helped lead Nevada to a 2-1 victory at Hawai‘i and combined for a shutout win against Louisiana Tech. She allowed just one goal through nearly 180 minutes of play. Cove also collected 11 saves over the two matches.

Other offensive nominees included: Boise State freshman forward Erica Parks; Nevada junior forward Cristen Drummond; San Jose State senior forward Emmy Belding; and Utah State sophomore forward Shantel Flanary.

Other defensive nominees included: Boise State sophomore goalkeeper Liz Ruiz; Hawai‘i junior defender Chelsea Deptula; and Utah State freshman defender Sydne Garner.
